I just found a packet of hot cross buns hidden at the back of a cupboard. They’ve been there since Easter.
They still look exactly the same as they did when I bought them.
Now, is this by design? Are hot cross buns baked in some special way to make them a kind of metaphor for Christ?
Do hot cross buns decay in a way that isn’t externally visable?
Or is this just a freaky packet of hot cross buns?
It freaks me out when food does that. It makes me question what they’ve put in it to make it so…immortal.

Are you going to try eating one? I would toast it first if you do

I think I’m going to give it a miss. I don’t trust a food that can last that long and still be exactly the same as it was when it came out of the oven.
