I found the list I wrote when I was twenty-four of things I wanted to have done by the time I was thirty.
I have just over a year left; and there are still eleven items left to tick off. Might have to make it thirty things to do before I’m thirty-five… Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it though.
Learn Mandarin Chinese and become fluent in another languageLearn to play pokerLearn to play the guitarGo on the London Eye- Go to Morocco
Travel around Africa- Have a dog called Bailey and a cat called Tsingtao
Learn how to make soup- Go back to the Fiera Nordestina in Rio de Janeiro
See if the air in America really does look different(It does, I swear it does)Visit my friend who lives in China- Visit the Pyramids
See Madame Butterfly the opera liveSpend an afternoon in a cafe in a piazza in RomeMake a smoothie- Pass my driving test
- Buy a flat
Establish a career and keep the same job for at least two yearsHave sex in a public place- Have somewhere to hang all my paintings (I think this is now impossible)
Get my law degree- Drive a racing car
- Live abroad
Work in an orphanage- Adopt a child
- Live by the sea
Have something published- Overcome my fears of heights and spiders
- Get an MA or equivalent
Build a proper snowman
I’m impressed that you almost done with your list, btw, what are those things on the list that are not done yet?, just curious.

Oo, that’s and idea, I could add:
31. Get serious about writing, do something with it – a bit vague I know, but it’s only something I’ve started to think I want to do in the last few weeks.
32. Get at least another grade in a martial art.
33. Open a craft shop and cafe.
34. Go travelling in South America – I’m planning a sabbatical as my thirtieth birthday present to myself.
35. Buy an iMac.

I hadn’t really thought of it that way. I tend to spend far too much time beating myself up about all the things I feel that I should have done but haven’t yet.
If I get it into my head that I want to do something, I just do it. It never occurs to me to think about it, or whether I should do it, or if I can. Might not be the best way, or the most stable – I’ve moved across the country four times on a whim – but it has got me a lot of stuff done. I am quite pleased with that.
